Don Grostic

Director & Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor

What brought you to yoga?

In 1999 I was working as a Director of Clinical Data Analysis in corporate America. I was totally caught up in the rat race and was stressed out. A good friend of my had done yoga and recommended that I do a class. At first I was a little resistant, but after my first class I knew I had found my love. It gave me peace of mind, eliminated my stress and made me feel great!! I was so hooked that I did 63 days straight to start my Bikram practice. It would have been more like 100 days if the studio hadn't shut down for thanksgiving day! I loved it so much that I left corporate America to teach yoga full time.

How long and how much do you practice? How long and where have you taught?

I have been practicing yoga since 1999. I do yoga 5 to 6 days a week. I have taught yoga since November 2002 at 6 different Bikram studios. I love it!!

What results have you achieved physically, mentally, emotionally?

I feel I am in the best shape of my life. I have better flexibility than I have ever had as an adult.

My focus is amazing compared to what it used to be. I no longer have constant self-dialog in my mind. That is long gone. It is wonderful because I can be in the present moment and connect with people in a way that I never could have in the past. The yoga has made my mind razor sharp and has brought my true voice to the surface. I have developed tremendous self-discipline and concentration though lots of hard work. All these things are amazing and I am grateful that I found this

yoga!

What do you like to bring to your students?

I like to bring  self-discipline (hey, personal growth doesn't come without hard work!), compassion and personal strength to my students with my teaching. I really focus on the connection between our minds, emotions and bodies and increasing self awareness leading to a understanding of who we really are. Hey, are we really here to buy more toys or to figure out who we are and what our purpose is????
